Boost your immune system with running!
It is the time of holidays and New Year’s resolutions! Unfortunately, however, we are again in this crazy situation of restrictions… But don’t let this stop you from making your resolutions anyway. Pick up running (again), especially in this lockdown!
Especially in this time of restrictions, it is important to keep moving. Exercise is one of the most important ways to improve your immune system and thus your resistance to the coronavirus.
The immune system is your body’s defence system against virus particles, bacteria and other unwanted external influences. Exercising improves the blood circulation in your body. This allows waste products to be discharged more quickly and oxygen and white blood cells to spread through the body more quickly, stopping viruses and bacteria more quickly. If you do not do much exercise or sport, the effect is reversed and your body will take longer to eliminate the viruses and bacteria from your body. You are then more susceptible to the coronavirus.
Enough reasons to set those resolutions and get started! Get enough exercise and start running (again). Not only to improve your resistance, but also to improve your mood and reduce the stress level in your body. All are important to get through this period well!
Be careful not to overload your body. This is because the hormones adrenaline and cortisol are released during exercise. These hormones can cause damage when subjected to a sudden high level of stress, which will prevent the positive effects of exercise on your immune system. So make sure you have a calm build-up and enough time for your body to recover.
