The board of the foundation consists of a team of volunteers. The board members are supported by a larger group of volunteers, who take care of the preparations for the Bredase Singelloop in various committees.
Mission
The objective of the Bredase Singelloop Foundation is to encourage running and performance in a pleasant and Burgundian environment by organising the most attractive running event in the Netherlands.
Vision
Sports are of great importance for individuals and society. Sport provides fun and relaxation and contributes to people’s development.
Exercise is mind-expanding, improves concentration, self-discipline and provides opportunities to develop and maintain social networks.
Children who exercise more often are less likely to become (overly) obese, and older people remain fit and vital for longer if they have an active lifestyle.
The Bredase Singelloop Foundation would like to contribute to this by promoting a healthy lifestyle. We want to achieve this by offering a platform to sporting Breda and its surroundings.

Singelloop Breda
Alive and kicking
The Bredase Singelloop Foundation organises an annual professional and international running event of allure, the AMGEN Singelloop Breda. A street run through the historic centre of Breda, along the beautiful canals and striking buildings, with the finish at the Grote Markt. The AMGEN Singelloop Breda takes place every year on the first Sunday of October.
The AMGEN Singelloop Breda has several events: 5K Walking & Wheeling, 5K performance run, 10K performance run, the half marathon race and performance run and the family run.
In addition, a Business Run is also organised in which the regional business community participates in teams in the above-mentioned sections.
The Bredase Singelloop has grown into the largest one-day event in the city of Breda. A fantastic event that has developed into a sports event with around 20,000 participants and 85,000 visitors each year and is still growing every year.
The Singelloop Breda distinguishes itself from all other runs by its pleasant, cheerful and Burgundian atmosphere and ambiance, thanks to the many bands, brass bands, DJs and samba bands along the route.
Back in time
History
As early as the 1940s, people were running along Breda’s canals. But after the race in 1950, the street race disappeared from Breda.
Many years later, people were again running on the brick roads of Breda. Starting at the Sprint athletics track, a new running event was organised through the Mastbos (Bouvignedreef) over 10 English miles. Due to a lack of growth, a new alternative was sought.
A new street run
Start in 1986
Under the influence of the successful street runs in The Hague, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, a group of initiators wanted to restore the Bredase Singelloop to its former glory.
And that’s how the first Singelloop Breda was organised in 1986. A total of 1,273 women and men ran the half marathon. And from that year onwards, an upward trend began that continues until today!
