Compete together with your own club against other clubs on the course of the Breda Singelloop. That happened during the Flowserve Club Battle. During the 5km they proudly sprinted for prizes in their own club outfits to loud applause and cheers. Apart from the high(er) visibility, there was also something to be gained financially for the sports clubs.
1st prize € 500: the club with the fastest five finishers;
2nd prize € 300: the club with the fastest individual club runner;
3rd prize € 200: the club with the most number of participants;
Tombola € 500: all participating clubs battling.
AV Sprint walks away with the1st prize. Not entirely surprising with so much running talent, but you have to live up to it in the end. Thanks to Jasper Heijblom, Lars Crutzen, Moussa Moskil, Bob ten Wolde and Max Crutzen, AV Sprint receives the check of € 500. Runner Sebastian Verkuilen of soccer club Baronie wins the2nd prize. He ran a fantastic5th time, after the aforementioned runners from AV Sprint, crossing the finish line in just 21:55 minutes. Soccer club Baronie thus receives a check of € 300.
R.k.s.v. Groen Wit will receive € 200, because as a club they took care of the most finished participants! Also a great achievement!
Willem Butz, chairman of the Breda Singelloop, handed over the checks at Athletics Association Sprint. According to Max van Ommen, club advisor at Breda Actief, it was a fantastic second edition. “With over 100 children registered for the Club Battle and ten teams participating, we got a big boost compared to last year. It was a beautiful sight to see the participants running by in their recognizable club kits; from R.k.v.v. JEKA to the ladies team of UVV’40. The team spirit radiated from them! And for the Breda spectators it was also often a nice moment of recognition!”
Sponsor Flowserve provided an additional prize of €500. This prize was awarded through a raffle. Soccer club Beek Vooruit was presented with the check! “How fantastic! We had not taken this into account at all. We are going to find a great destination for our youth members for this amount!”
From the registration fee for the Club Battle € 2.50 goes to Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Breda and € 2.50 to their own club. And that is win-win, because members support their own club or association and you make sure that children who have no money to pay membership fees at home can also become a member of an association.
